Joanna Afonso is a New York City based actor, singer, and dancer. She

recently graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Musical Theatre with a Minor in Dance.

Since an early age, she has always had a knack for performing. She started dancing at the age of three and never stopped. Growing up in Orlando, Florida she was surrounded by performers at theme parks. It wasn't until middle school that she found her love for theatre and was grateful enough to join the Dr. Phillips High School Theatre Magnet (Troupe 4276) for her high school years. She credits the magnet as being the turning point in her passion for theatre as the experiences she received there were once in a lifetime and taught her many valuable lessons in performing.

At Marymount, she was given wonderful opportunities to perform not only onstage but also create and experiment with her choreography. The school allowed her a space to explore choreography while being able to teach it to her peers as well.

Outside of theatre, you will find her selling your new favorite pair of jeans at Abercrombie or watching her favorite hockey team (the Pittsburgh Penguins) on TV. In addition to those things she will always be talking about Harry Styles, Tiramisu, and her favorite color pink!
